Introduction

Privaci ("we", "our", "the app") is a cross-platform file encryption and preview application that prioritizes your privacy above all else. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Our Core Principle: Zero Knowledge

Privaci is built on a zero-knowledge architecture. We never have access to your encryption keys, passwords, or file contents. All encryption and decryption happens entirely on your device. We cannot decrypt your files, even if compelled to do so.

Data We Collect

1. Anonymous Usage Analytics

We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to collect anonymous usage data. This helps us understand how the app is used and improve the experience.

Data collected includes:

• Operating system type and version
• App version
• Anonymous event names (e.g. "app started", "file encrypted")
• Country-level location (derived from IP, IP is not stored)

Data NOT collected:

• File contents, file names, or file metadata
• Encryption keys, passwords, or PINs
• Personal information (name, email, etc.)
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs

You can opt out of analytics at any time in Preferences > General > Usage Analytics.

2. Encryption Operations

All encryption and decryption operations are performed locally on your device:

• Encryption keys are derived from your password and exist only in memory
• Keys are destroyed immediately when the app closes or locks
• No key material is ever written to disk in plaintext
• No file content is ever transmitted to any server
• Preview decryption happens in memory — decrypted data is never written to disk

3. File Preview

When you preview an encrypted file, the decrypted content is held in memory only for the duration of the preview. Once you close the preview or switch to another file, the decrypted data is cleared from memory. No temporary files are created on disk.

4. Purchases

• App Store purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect or store payment information. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Microsoft Store purchases are handled entirely by Microsoft. See Microsoft's Privacy Policy.

Data Storage

All your files, settings, and configuration data are stored locally on your device. We do not operate cloud storage or sync services. We cannot access your files or encryption keys under any circumstances.

Network Access

Privaci does not require an internet connection for any core functionality. The app works completely offline. Network access is only used for:

• Anonymous usage analytics (if enabled)
• Checking for app updates (if enabled)

Third-Party Services

Your Rights

• Opt out of analytics: Preferences > General > Usage Analytics
• Delete local data: Uninstalling the app removes all local data
• Full data control: All files remain on your device at all times

Children's Privacy

Privaci does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be noted by updating the "Last updated" date above.
